“Perspectives” Blog Submission Guidelines

Thank you for your interest in contributing to the Leading Forward “Perspectives” blog. We welcome submissions from philanthropic field leaders that offer unique insights and inspire funders to adopt practices that promote equitable leadership transitions for our nonprofit partners. We particularly value posts that include clear recommendations for funders and/or a call to action that aligns with one (or more) of our Leading Forward principles.

Submission Focus: 

Your piece should:

  • Highlight specific actions that funders can take to address observed shifts in grantee needs and lessons learned from your organization or work.

  • Present a distinct point of view and discuss how funders might adjust their thinking or actions and to take a more grantee-center approach to the issue.

  • Include a call to action.

Detailed Instructions:

Please be mindful of the following guidelines and considerations:

  • Structure:   Guest posts consist of 500-700 words of original work.

  • Photos:   Submit high-resolution photos with express written permission for use and proper credit to the source. Include a 1-2 sentence description for each image.

  • Accessibility:   Use plain language to ensure your ideas are accessible to all readers. Refer to this Plain Language Guide for helpful tips.

  • Author Information:   Provide a brief bio (100 words or less), a headshot, preferred pronouns, and links to your social media and website.  

  • Tone:   Focus on sharing valuable insights and experiences; avoid overly self-promotional content and language.

  • Fact-Checking:   We do not fact-check your work but encourage you to hyperlink to all sources. We may edit your submission for clarity, grammar, and adherence to our guidelines. However, we will notify you of any edits and seek your approval before publication.

Submission Process: 

✅Send your submission to hello@leading-forward.org with the subject line “Guest Perspective Submission.”

✅Include a Word document or Google Doc link of your piece, author information, and any images with descriptions and attributions.

✅If accepted, we will notify you within one week of your submission.
