Community Discussions:

Tips and Guidelines for Successful Engagement

To make the most of online group discussions, we encourage you to:

  • Stay Engaged: Regularly check your emails and participate in discussions and provide feedback, input, and ideas to your peers. Your insights and experiences are invaluable.

  • Set Your Email Preferences: You’re automatically signed up to receive each mail, but you can change your preferences to digest, abridged, or no emails (you would need to visit the group page directly to catch up).

  • Be Respectful: Maintain a supportive and respectful tone in all communications. We're here to learn from and support each other.

  • Exercise Restraint in Reply-All: Remember that a listserv is basically a way to “reply all” to a large group of people. Consider if your response or resource needs to go to everyone involved or if it might be relevant to a smaller group.

  • Share with a Friend: Forward these messages to colleagues in funding institutions who are interested in this topic or who are hoping to better support their nonprofit partners through transition.

  • Share Resources: If you come across valuable reports or articles, please share them to hello@leadingforward.org so that we can add them to our website!

Group discussion rules around potential conflict or concerns between members:

  • Maintain Confidentiality: Share lessons learned, but please do not share names, organizations, or identifying information without permission.

  • Stay On Topic: Ensure that all discussions are relevant to the group's purpose. Avoid off-topic posts that might lead to unnecessary conflicts.

  • Moderate Language: Use language that is inclusive and considerate.

  • Report Conflicts: If you witness or experience a conflict, report it to the moderators rather than engaging further. The moderators will intervene and address the issue.

  • Constructive Criticism: When disagreeing, offer constructive criticism and provide evidence or reasoning to support your point of view. Avoid being dismissive or overly critical without offering solutions.

  • No Sales Pitches: Please do not use this space to pitch your services.
