We believe in the importance of centering and supporting the leadership of Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) executives leading community-focused organizations advancing institutional change.

We believe leadership transitions should be welcomed and supported by philanthropy. Leadership transitions can be healthy and necessary not only for leaders but for the growth and development of organizations.

We understand that organizations exist within interconnected ecosystems of social change. In an Executive Leadership Transition, all organizational stakeholders including Board, Staff, Members, as well as the organization’s alliances and coalitions, are impacted by the transition.

We are committed to changing philanthropic culture and practices to be more attuned, aligned, and supportive of healthy leadership transitions.

We are committed to supporting BIPOC leaders build sustainable and effective organizations. To do this work we must work in collaboration and strive to address power dynamics, name our challenges and limitations with honesty and transparency, and work to build trusted partnerships.
